You spun a life of lies and secrets
silk threaded over ages
immaculately kept
a trophy in which to relish.
In awe of all that was bright and new
a naive little fly you caught
distracted by the polished glow
drawn in by the light
you controlled the fly
making her feel helpless
sucking all hope.
But you got greedy
holding too many victims
working together
the flies grew strong
unraveling silk by silk
exposing lies and untruths
they broke free of your web.
You may repair the broken strings
lure in more victims
but the truth is out
your silk is dull
you are only
a Spider.
